The Project "Emigration in the 19th Century"

Dear genealogist,

For more than 10 years I have been collecting historical facts about emigration in the 19th century. Initially I only researched my home town of Tiefenort, later I expanded my research to the former areas of today's Thuringia.

The Research includes matches of emigrants from the Grand Duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, the Duchy of Saxe-Meiningen, the Kingdom of Prussia, but also areas of predent-day of Hesse Nassau or Bavaria, which were former parts of Thuringia.

In 2013 I published my first research results in the book Forgotten People- Emigration in the 19th Century. In 2016 and 2017 I published the two English-language books Our Ancestors Were German and Goodbye Forever- Life Beyond Germany, which also presented in California and Washington D.C. in 2017. as well as in the Midwest of the USA in 2018.

My research is going on and I hope being able to help descendents of Thuringian emigrants to locate the origin of their ancestor.
